Wat Sangwet School


Location
This school is located at 108 Samsen road, Watsamphraya subdistrict, Phra Nakhorn district Bangkok of Thailand. Wat Sangwet school is also near kurusapha press and Santichaiprakarn park.

The brief history of Wat Sangwet School
Wat Sangwet School began for the first time in 1885 and its original name was Wat Sangwedwidsayaram School being named after the temple of Sangwedwitsayaram where the school was located. At that time, the school was only the primary one and was open till 1942. Because of much less students, the school was closed.

The new school of the High school of Wat Sangwet
In July 1953, the abbot of Watsangwedwidsayaram then was interested in and aware of education importance, so he authorized the Ministry of Education to use the temple’s plot of 5 Rais and 2 Ghans (about 8,800 square meters) to found the school again, but served as the high school instead. Moreover, it has been named “Wat Sangwet” school from then on. However, during the building, the first and the second generations of the students were placed under Wat Bawornnivet School’s care for their study till the new school was completed in January 1955. Now The high school of Wat Sangwet is the coeducation school with its 565 students.

How to get to Wat Sangwet School
Wat Sangwet School is easily and conveniently reached by starting at Khao San Road area, the popular place among foreigners from all over the world. That is just walking along the road from Khao San area to the north till you see the intersection. Then turn left and go straight about 50 meters. You finally will get to the school (your right side) by crossing the road.

There are many kinds of accommodation such as apartments, mansions, condos and small hotels around the area.

The interesting and important places near the school
Santichaiprakarn Park is the nearest tourist attraction to the school and a little further one is Phra Athit Pier. It is good for English teachers or any other sorts of teacher to teach in this school because they can enjoy themselves at the park adjoining The Chao Phraya River after the class.
